This expression is part of the 26th voyage of Jefferson's Ocean series and marks the first time a rye whiskey has undergone the "Aged at Sea" treatment. The whiskey is initially aged in #3 char barrels and then double-barreled in a mix of charred and toasted barrels. It is placed on a ship to travel across different climates and sea conditions, which influence its flavor profile by caramelizing the sugars in the wood and allowing the ocean air to interact with the spirit​

This rye whiskey is bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV) and is non-chill filtered, which contributes to a richer and more intense flavor. The sea aging process results in a blend of bold rye spice balanced with notes of toffee, marshmallow, and a touch of sea salt​.
