Lagavulin Single Malt Scotch Offerman Edition Caribbean Rum Cask Finish 11 Years Old is a distinctive collaboration between the storied Islay distillery and actor Nick Offerman, known for his profound appreciation of fine Scotch. This special edition is aged for 11 years and uniquely finished in Caribbean rum casks, infusing the traditional peaty profile of Lagavulin with the sweet, exotic nuances of aged rum. Presented in a 750ml bottle, this Scotch is a testament to the fusion of classic Scotch whisky-making with innovative cask finishing techniques.

The nose of this Lagavulin is complex and intriguing, marked by the smoky, iodine-rich aroma characteristic of Islay malts, complemented by a surprising hint of sweet molasses and tropical fruits from the rum cask finish. These elements blend seamlessly, creating a multi-layered olfactory experience that invites further exploration.

On the palate, the Lagavulin Offerman Edition delivers the distillery's signature intense peat smoke and seaweed flavors, beautifully balanced with the warmth and sweetness imparted by the rum casks. Notes of vanilla, banana, and dried fruit emerge, adding a rich, velvety layer that enhances the traditional Scotch flavors without overpowering them. This unique combination creates a delightful contrast between the robust, earthy elements of the Scotch and the smooth, sweet accents from the rum.

The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering smoky notes and a sweet, spicy warmth that encapsulates the exceptional balance of this Scotch. The Lagavulin Offerman Edition Caribbean Rum Cask Finish is a sublime choice for whisky enthusiasts looking to experience a unique and expertly crafted Scotch. It is ideal for sipping neat, allowing the complex flavors and aromas to unfold slowly, offering a deep and engaging tasting journey.

Lagavulin 11 yr Rum finish

I am a big fan of Lagavulin 16 yr. The 11 yr Rum finish was a bit different. I used a Glencairn glass for testing
purposes. First pour; Neat 2 oz. Felt like a young Lagavulin with hints of rum. Second pour; One ice cube, 2 oz. Completely covered the rum flavoring. Less desirable because of the youth of the whiskey. I did run 2 ozs through a Vinturi only to strip the flavor even more. My best taste was 2 ozs with one drop of well water purified. Overall, it was worth the try, but I will be leaning back into Lagavulin 16 yr and the other whiskeys from the Diageo company.
