Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel Whiskey was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon. Today, Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is still aged in the same section of Warehouse H as Blanton's Private Reserve was over 50 years ago. Made from the high-rye Buffalo Trace mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley making it one of the most highly sought-after American bourbons.

Blanton’s is distilled by Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky. Blanton’s bourbon is distilled from a “high-rye” mash bill — meaning after the higher proportion of corn common in Buffalo Trace bourbons, the rest (or much of the rest) of the mash bill is made up of rye. Wheated whiskies like Weller Special Reserve, tend to be softer, a kick of rye in a mash bill tends to produce a bit more in the way of fruit and spice in the whiskey, which play nicely with caramel and char. Though it’s worth noting that the final flavor profile varies from barrel to barrel with this American bourbon.

Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon tasting notes: A deep, satisfying nose of nutmeg and spices. Powerful dry vanilla notes in harmony with hints of honey amid strong caramel and corn. A medium finish composed of returning corn and nutmeg flavors.
